4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: 99 toy 4runner back hatch, auto parts stores, body components
Questionthe back hatch on my 99 4runner wont open . the lever seems locked even when its not. how do you access the locking mechanism in there ? seems like a spring or something slopped off ?? the handle pushes in but doesn't open the door.
AnswerMichael,
I would suggest that you purchase a repair manual for the 4-Runner. I don't have any specifications for the Toyota, but you can purchase a manufacturer's shop manual for it from a dealer. They are quite expensive, normally costing, around $100.
A Chilton's or a Hayne's manual would be a better buy, as they can be purchased at most auto parts stores for $20. They have a lot of information on basic trouble shooting, and repairs, including body components. These manuals are designed for a year or range of years for specific vehicles, and are invaluable if you are planning on doing any repairs, or maintenance yourself.
