QuestionMy jeep will crank over (starter engages) but is getting intermittent electrical signal to the coil. I have changed the coil, cleaned all ground connections, checked the coil wires (leads) for shorts, and replaced cap, rotor and wires. Running a self diagnostic I get a 11(ignition) and 12 code. My Haynes manual does not show a 12 code for a 94 model wrangler but for a 97 and later models a 12 code is "Battery Power to PCM was disconnected". Could this be the same code for a 94 model or do you know what a 12 code is? Do you have any idea of what else could be the problem? Additional info...when the jeep starts, it runs greats and has never stalled out while driving. I am at a loss, can you help?
AnswerDarren,
According to my book, an error code 12 states "Problem with the battery connection. Direct battery input to controller disconnected within the last 50 ignition key-ons."
Check all battery connections, and (especially) all ground wires and connections.
Without working on it myself, these are the best suggestions that I can give you at this time.
If this doesn't work, you may have to take the Jeep to a reputable shop, and have them run a diagnostic analysis.
