4 Wheel Drive/SUVs: oil pressure, oil pressure gauge, oil pressure sending unit
QuestionI have a 1997 Jeep Wrngler 6 cyl. I was driving today and the check gauge light came on. I noticed that I had no oil pressure. I stopped the engine and checked the oil-fine, no problem.Re- started the Jeep and light stayed off but no pressure. Engine did not get hot and no burning oil smell. What is it and is it safe to drive?
AnswerJoe,
I really suspect that you have broken a wire, or have a faulty oil pressure sending unit, or bad gauge. Don't drive it until you get it checked out at a reputable shop, or can trace out a faulty component or bad wire. If your oil pressure gauge is correct, you may have lost an oil pump.
