the check engine light comes on intermittently what does this mean

Answer
It means that one of the operatin parameters is wrong.  You will have to use a scan tool to query the memory of the engine control module, and see what sustem is out of whack, and start the trougleshooting tree from there.
I ONLY do early Samurai, and do not work on later cars anymore.
