Suzuki: samurai, oil pump, oil pan

Question
I have an 86 sami with a new motor,and had a diaphragm failure in my fuel pump. I,ve changed the oil and filter but the bottom end is knocking.
Can the new oil pump be damaged, and how do I check this(oil circulation)
The truck was in idol when the failure occurred, and I shut it down when It sounded like a lifter tapping.

If the bottom end is knocking, then it's almost certainly a bearing failure.  Remove the oil pan, and find out which bearing or bearings are a problem.  Personally, I'd just replace them all.  As for the oil pump, you will have to remove, disassemble, inspect and measure it to know anything for certain.
