Suzuki: suzuki vitara, suzuki vitara, chilton manual
QuestionI have a 2001 suzuki vitara 2.0. Recently, I started having a problem starting the engine when hot.
In the morning it starts Ok, not on the dime, but it starts. After i drive it for a while, if I stop for a few minutes, the engine will not start. I have to wait 10, 15 or 20 minutes before it starts. I noticed that when I remove the gas tank cap and put it back, the engine starts very quickly. The other day, it died while in traffic. I called road side assistance, but the car started after about 15-20 minutes and I cancelled the roadside assistance service.. Help!!!!!
AnswerI wonder if the fuel tank vent and carbon cannister hoses are somehow not allowing air in to replace fuel as it's used. If you have a Suzuki (Factory, not a Haines or Chilton) manual you can find the diagnosis procedure. I have never worked on a Vitara, and am a Samurai guy, and have no specific information.
