Suzuki: samari engine swap, set of wheels, road spring
Questiondo you know if it is good to swap a 1.6 16valve engine into a 88 sami the 16 valve is fuel inj. the 88 now is not. i`ve heard that you want to use the 1.6 but a 8 valve just wondering what the diff. is or where to find out thank you very much
AnswerWhether an 8 valve or a 16 valve is good depends on how you're going to use it. The eight valve has more power at lower engine speeds, but not at higher rpm. The opposite is true of the 16 valve. Go to http://www.izook.com and check out the links.
As an example, I left the stock 1.3 in my Samurai, and did the Rocky Road spring over wrangler spring kit, a 6.5 to one low range t-case kit, 4.71 ring and pinion, and lock rite lockers. With an offset set of wheels, and 34x9.50 super swampers, it is very capable climbing and dealing with fairly big rocks. Won't go over 65, but can climb 25 degree hills with aplomb. It's all in what you want to do.
