Tips on Buying Cars: trading in old car, vw jetta, buying a new car

Buying a new car soon. Have 1995 VW Jetta only 68,000 miles on it. Would it be better to trade it in or get rid of it myself??t4

From strictly a dollar standpoint, you're much better off to sell the car yourself.  A dealer will take this car to the auction, so that's all they'll really give you for it: auction value.  There's always someone out there looking for a nice used VW, so you should be able to sell it quickly if you put the right price on it.  BUT- you have to weigh that against the time it takes to sell, making (and waiting for) appointments to show the car, cost of advertising, etc...  But I can't help but feel that the hassle will be worth it in the long run.  Good luck!
