QuestionI've found a 1995 BMW 740i w/105,000 miles. CARFAX report is clean. I can get the auto for $7K out the door. NADA retail values are:
Low - $ 5,375 Clean - $ 6,900 High - $ 8,025
Kelly Blue Book
Suggested Retail Value:
Excellent Condition - $10,665
Private Party Value:
Fair - $ 7,105 Good - $ 7,945 Exc. - $ 8,580
I've only seen it on Autotrader.com from a dealer. All pics (27) indicate a well taken car of car, at least cosmetically, and as I said, it has a good CARFAX report. Is it worth the 200 mile drive to the dealer to check it out? Thanks in advance.
AnswerHi JC
Looks like you done some homework I like that.
I really like your choice of vehicle but would I buy it myself, most likely not and the main reason would be maintenance on a Beamer thats 13 years should something go wrong parts and labour can be quite costly on this luxury car.
At $ 7000. I would expect the vehicle to last towards 3 years with just regular service that means the car will be 16 years old and worthless but will have served its purpose should it last.
While I highly recommend Carfax, keep in mind they are not perfect go to this web page on my website for an understanding http://www.usedcartips.org/ACCID.html
If your going to inspect vehicle phone and make sure dealer will not sell prior to your arrival, I have seen a few buyers travel far only to get burned.
And lastly lets make sure you test drive vehicle properly, if you go to this link it will teach you how I appraised and bought cars http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html I will be interested in the outcome, contact me through my website
Good Luck
