Tips on Buying Cars: Advice on Buying Car in Bay Area, vw camper van, older cars

Hi Ray,

I'm planning a trip to the Bay Area, California, in the Fall.  I live in Australia. I'll be there for about ten weeks.  I know wheels are a must to get around.  What would you recommend as the cheapest way to do this - buy, hire?  Any help appreciated.  I'm on a tight budget, so I'm looking for the cheapest way.

Hey Mate
On a budget get to your location ...then look up second hand older cars for hire ( in my area they are called rent a wreck ) and compare with buying something real cheap for the few weeks that you can re-sell when time comes...

On a funny note my son and lady friend went to Australia a few years back...bought an old VW Camper Van and toured around the coast for 3 months...and sold it before leaving for same price as paid...now that was a real deal and i wish you the same luck...
PS...if you go the buy route make sure you get something that wont break down...go to my website   www.usedvehiclefacts.ca   and click on test drive and a few others if you wish...
