QuestionHiya Ray,
Hope you can help me.
I live in the United Kingdom and Im thinking of buying a 1.6 VW Golf Cl Hatchback, 1994 year, its done 80,000 miles and has 12 months MOT. Its a five door hatch back.
First of all could you tell me what are the pitfalls of buying a golf with 80,000 miles on the clock.
Also my gross income a year is £9555 and somebody has told me volkswagen parts can be expensive.
Is there a way of getting cheaper vw parts from an independent and if so how much would I be paying for the major and minor parts that may go wrong.
Im concerned because my budget isnt very big. Would it be better to go for a ford or a vauxhall astra say.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks and best wishes
Lorraine
AnswerHi Lorraine
If you were buying a Benz- BMW -or something along those lines then i would have second thoughts being on a budget...
Your buying a car thats 10 years old and the most important factor will be getting fair value for your money...
A VW golf is a fair choice for something that will last a few more years...as for parts should something go wrong...check at wreckers for used or re-build parts...
The trick is buying something you feel will not break down...follow some simple steps...go to my website www.usedvehiclefacts.ca and click on test drive...accident...take to mechanic etc...
