QuestionI am in my late 20's. I have only had one car and it was in a fire. I need to look around for another. I have time to look around, I am borrowing my brothers for now. I don't think I can go over 3,000, unless I finance. And I'm not really sure if that would work b/c I do temp jobs. How do I even go about looking for a used car? What are some things to look for? Is the mileage important? Can I have a mechanic look it over before buying? Could my budget price be higher? Any advice will be appropriated! Thanks!
AnswerHi Dawn.
First let me say I like your Q, it's to the point along with the fact you got time to look around should assure not ending up with a lemon.
Here are some steps I would like for you to understand and start with on my website
1,,, Where to find a car in your price range http://www.usedcartips.org/TENTHOU.html
2,,, When you found a car to fit your budget then follow these steps http://www.usedcartips.org/TESTDRI.html
3,,, You don't commit to any deal unless you will be allowed an independent mechanical inspection " it will cost you a few bucks, but peace of mind.
Dawn,,, start with this info, anything you are not sure about feel free to get back to me, and I will guide you or when you find a vehicle that may fit the ticket feel free to send me a link, and I will check for red flags.
Also with your budget have you taken into consideration the Insurance cost factor ?
