Tips on Buying Cars: water damage, nissan dealership, car fax
QuestionA bill of sale was signed but no money or possession of the vehicle was completed. I am trading in my corvette for a, what I thought was, safe 4 door car for my 16 yr old daughter. Nissan dealership was confronted about the vehicle being in a flood but denied it and pull a clean car fax. However, after searching in the trunk and back seat safety belt, mold and standing water was found. I don't want this car for my daughter. If I don't take possession can I cancel the deal?
AnswerHi Jamie
The fact there is no deposit and vehicle not in your possession 99.9% says the dealer will not pursue this transaction, they may try you on for size with scary tactics if they want to pursue, if I was in your shoes I would let it ride.
If you feel the dealership want to take action, then here is a link on my website I want you to read. http://www.usedcartips.org/dispute.html
The fact the dealer shows you a Carfax means nothing to me as Carfax is only a provider of information that have been submitted from various channels, and should be looked upon only as a guideline.
