QuestionHi Barry,
I am looking at putting new tires on my 1500 Ram.I pull a the wheel camper sometimes in the summer and I'm thing about putting a heavier tire on the rear.
The tires that I have decided on are Yokohama Geolander HTS.
The size is 265/70/17 and I'm thinking SL tires for the front and E type for the rear.
Is this a good or bad idea?
Best Regards,

AnswerShane,
I am not a fan of swapping P tires into LT type tires - and vice versa.
But I am particularly not a fan of the combination.
First, in order to carry the same load a P type tire does, an LT type tire needs to use 15 psi more pressure. That changes the way the tire reacts with the suspension - and one of the things would be a worse ride.
Clear the combination would cause an imbalance in characteristics between the front and rear axle.
So I recommend against that.
