QuestionI bought 4 new tires yesterday and I'm trying to determine when my tires were manufactured. On two of the four tires is "DOT 7 3 8 K". I'm not sure when they were manufactured and what the K stands for. Can you help?
AnswerMarley,
I explain this in detail here:
http://www.barrystiretech.com/dotcoding.html
Obviously, what you wrote doesn't fit the coding structure. Perhaps only the first 4 digits are present on the side you looked at (meaning you need to look on the other side). If that is true, then:
73 = JIUH SHUENN ENTERPRISE CO., LTD., TAICHUNG, TAIWAN, CHINA
and
8K = ....... well, as I explain there isn't a universal code, but it might mean: P245/45R17.
So look at the other tires. see if any have the coding structure I mention on the web page. If not, look on the other side.
