Tires: compatable tire size, tire size, discount tire

will tire size P225/60 R18 work as a replacement
for tire size P235/50 VR 18

Unfortunately, no.  The 225/60R18 is over an inch and a half larger in diameter.

I know of no appropriate tire size that is guaranteed to fit.  It is going to be dependent on the vehicle - and for that info, you'll need to contact someone who has measured the fenderwells.  I know that Tire Rack and Discount Tire both have done things like that.
