QuestionI have a 2006 Honda Accord and I just bought 17 inch rims and I'm looking for the best deal on tires. I was told I could not go lower than a 93 but how come some tires have a "v" and others an "H" after this number? What do those letters mean and which is a better tire?
AnswerJulia,
Tire Rack has a pretty good write on the subject:

But if you want to go into this a little deeper:

Needless to say, a higher speed rating indicates a "better" tire, but some of the ways it is "better" is not always what you may want in a tire.
For example, what usually comes along when the speed rating goes up is increased handling crispness, and more grip, but also worse ride, fuel economy, and wear.
