Tires: Equivalent tire size, size equivalent, doorpost
QuestionWhat is the nearest tire size equivalent to 30x9.50R15 in normal LT or passenger sizes. This is the size fitted to my 1996 F-150, and the seem to be sort of scarce on the ground here. Thanks for your help and advice. Shelbyw
AnswerJoseph,
On every vehicle sold in the US, there is a sticker - commonly called the placard - that will list the original tire size and the proper pressure for that size. The placard is usually located on a doorpost or in the glove box.
According to The Old Timers Tire Guide, your truck's placard should not say 30X9.50R15LT. There were quite a few different versions of F-150 - and they had different tire sizes - so it is impossible for me to be sure what the placard will say.
BUT
It was fairly common for these trucks to come with P235/75R15 XL's.
