QuestionJohn,
Due to the complexity and special tools required to to perform a 4 wheel alignment, I am not expecting a response explaining how to perform one in my driveway. Here's my situation and question:
My vehicle in need of alignment is a 96' Olds 88 LSS. I recently replaced the front struts myself and then took it to a repair shop for the 4 wheel alignment. The shop reported that toe and camber are out of limits on all wheels, and "alignment bolts" are needed for 3 of the lower control arms in order to repair it properly. Due to the cost, I declined the repair.
Can you tell me exactly where these bolts are installed?
Being a certified aircraft mechanic, I have the capability to remove and replace these bolts, but lack the data. Unfortunately my shop wasn't willing to give up this info, as I understand they would take a substantial cut on profit.
Thanks for your help, it's great that you are donating your time to help others!

AnswerJJ,
Sorry but Alignment are out of my area. I know how they effect tire wear, but thats it.
Sorry I can not help. I wish you the best of luck.
However I have a few ideas for you to get the needed help.
Have you gone to your local auto parts store and ask them? They even sell repair books. I remember growing up and watching my Dad use the books to repair cars. They are nice.
Good luck,
John
