Tires: tire pressure for upgrades, 17 rims, manufacturers index

i have put flat 205/40-17 rims on my civic coupe that had stock tyres 175/65-14 rims.the tyres used to be at 33psi for the stock but now i am confused as to the pressure to setthe upgraded tyres.the max psi for the upgrades are 49psi but should i go with that or with the manufacturers index?

I like to verify everything before I answer a question, but my books are only applicable for the US and it is obvious that this vehicle isn't a US spec vehicle - My book doesn't list a 175/65R14 ever being on a Honda Civic.

But assuming what you have posted is true, then use 38 psi.  It will give the same load carrying capacity as the original tires did at 33 psi.
