QuestionHello,
I recently had to get 1 tire changed (front right) because unfortunately, it was slashed. Before this happened, the car ran great. After I got a new tire, the car would shake/wobble above 40mph.
A few days later, I took the car back to the tire place to get it re-balanced, and they told me I had a bent rim. The only thing they could do was put it in the back driver side, to minimize the wobble. I did a visual inspection, and couldn't see an issue, but I am not an expert.
My question to you is this.... can you bend a rim by changing the tire? Even if you drop the rim, I figure they are pretty durable...
Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
AnswerJason,
Yes, it is possible to damage a rim by dropping it, but the mounting process itself won't cause a bent rim.
I wonder if it is possible that whatever slashed the tire, might be the source of the bent rim and perhaps there is some damage to the vehivle itself.
