Question Thanks for the answer! I have contacted the installing tire dealer and they have agreed to replace the tires at no charge (they admitted that they made a mistake). I will have the tires changed, but am curious as to what would/could happen if the incorrect tires were left on.

-----Question-----
I just had the tires replaced on my 2002 Chrysler Town & Country. The original size was P215/65R16. The tire dealer "mistakenly" installed P215/60R16. Does this make a difference in safety or handling? Should I have them replaced with the original size tire?

Peter,
Yes! Take the vehicle back and point out their error.
AnswerPeter,
What could happen? I like to think in terms of risk.
There is an increased risk of tire failure as the tire would have to carry a larger percentage of its maximum load. While the probability of a failure is low, the consequences might be tragic.
There is also an slight decrease in handling and ride performance, again, a low probability, but in this case the consequences are low as well.
Hope this helps.
