Tires: my tire lifetime, michelin tires, tire manufacturers

My michelin tires are 5 1/2 years old and were new when I bought my car. My car has only 24000 miles. They look good but should I change them . I live in Texas.

The latest advisories out of the tire manufacturers is that there is a time limit on tires, but there is some disagreement over how long.  Some say 6 years, some say 10 years.  My take on the difference has to do with the temperature of where the tire is operating.  Unfortunately, Texas is one of the hot states, so I think the 6 year limit applies.
