QuestionThe present tires are Continental 205R-65R 15 99T. They are no
longer available. I drive 95% on highway and 5% on moderately
rough dirt roads fishing and camping. I need a tire to take the
weight of the camper and don't require an exta soft ultra quiet
ride on the highway. The Eurovan is in good shape with 104000
miles. Your suggetions would be much appreciated. I also don't
require the most expensive tire in the marketplace. I live in WA and
rarely drive in snow and then only an inch or two. Thanks for your
help
AnswerRobert,
I hope you've figured out that the real problem is the Load Index - 99. Most folks would not be aware that this is the European equivalent to a LT (Light Truck) tire. You need a tire that has at least a 99 Load index and in the US these are pretty rare birds.
But I did find some tires at Tire Rack that would work. I think you ought to look at the ratings and decide for yourself what would work best for your driving conditions.
BTW, I would also spend some time on one of the forums devoted to vehicles like yours. Their experience will be invaluable.
