Tires: Mitsubishi Eclipse GT alternate tire sizes, stock rims, mitsubishi eclipse

I have a 2002 Mitsubishi Exclipse GT with stock rims. Current tire size is 215x50x17.
Question: Can I put larger size tires on the stock rims? If so, what tires would be acceptable?

Joe,

The stock rims are 6 1/2" wide and that width will accommodate a larger tire.  

However, I don't have a chart that tells me how large the fenderwell is for your vehicle.  I suggest you contact a website devoted to your vehicle.  I'm sure someone has already done all the work needed to answer that part of the question.
