Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: Safety, suzuki gsx r600, beginner bike

Hey Nigel..
I'm 17 years old and i weigh 58kg.. I really want to purchase a Suzuki gsx-r600 as a beginner bike. I'm not quite sure if i'm "heavy enough" just yet. I've heard from other riders that this bike wouldn't be much of a problem for a beginner. So i just thought i should get feedback from an expert like you. Please, let me know what you think.

I take it you are going do take your test in the States........  Here in the UK you would have to start on a 125 until you reach a certain age, 21 yrs.....

Back to the  question....

Suzuki GSXR600 not a bad bike, but it depends what year you go for.  Some of the earlier versions liked to be rev'd hard to get the best performance from them, so perhaps not a suitable bike to start with.
