Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: scooter driving tests, 50cc scooters, motorcycle endorsement

Hi was just wondering if you knew what road tests if any i need to take to drive a scooter. Does it depend on the engine size. Thanks

Requirements vary from state to state and country to country.

In the US, in general, a 50cc or less scooter (with less than 2 hp and capable of no more than 30 mph) is classified as a moped and requires only a driver's license.

Greater than 50cc scooters are generally classified as motorcycles and require a motorcycle license, which normally consists of a written test for a motorcycle permit and a riding/skill test for the motorcycle endorsement. Some states do this off-street, some do it on the road.
