Motorcycle Safety & Driveability: how to start, motorcycle design, bmw 650

I'm about to buy  a BMW 650 FS. There's been about 15 years since I ride for the last time. How do you recommend is the best way to catch up, I will use it both on the streets and some eventual trips?

Things have moved on in 15 years in terms of more traffic and improvements in motorcycle design.  The bike you are choosing is a good one, for starting again.  I do not know where you live, but get some training, just to get yourself back into it.  Get back to me if you need anymore advice, DVD's or access to pdf files on Advanced training.
