QuestionI have a 2004 Suzuki Intruder 800cc. I need to change the oil. I understand that there are 2 places were I need to change the oil. One is the regular engine oil and the other is in the rear axle. I was wondering if you new what type, weight, and amount of oil I need for each.
Thanks for your help

AnswerGreets Sherwin,
I can give you general advice, but for specifics you're going to need to refer to your owner's manual or a service manual.
Engine oil (and the filter) needs to be changed every 3000 miles or so. Use motorcycle-specific oil (more $$$ than car oil), preferably synthetic (more $$$ than dinosaur juice, but worth it.) I generally use a variable weight 10W-40 for my street bikes, Castrol Syntec, a synthetic blend. Amsoil's good, or get oil from the Suzuki dealership.
The rear axle/gear oil doesn't need to be changed as often, probably only every 12000 miles or so. Again, refer to your owner's manual. I think final drives use straight-weight gear oil, but I don't know the weight. 50? 80? 30?
If you don't have a manual, my recommendation is to find an Internet discussion forum for Intruder enthusiasts. There are probably at least a dozen out there, the bikes are very popular. There you can get advice from someone who's done the same oil changes on the same bike already. Here's one:
