Used Cars: 2000 Toyota Avalon XLS/1992 Cressida, toyota avalon xls, synthetic motor oil
QuestionI purchased a 2000 Avalon XLS in area code 72201. I love the car. It had 86,800 miles. I received a folder with the maintenance records. I have had no problem. I was reading online comments. Should I use synthetic motor oil and, also, do you think that I paid too much for this beauty? The car runs extremely smoothly and it is very comfortable. I also own a 1992 Toyota Cressida. It has over 200.000 miles and runs great. It starts up wonderfully. I have not encountered problems with it, either. Can I use synthetic motor oil in it? What problems should I look out for?... with both cars.
AnswerWell first off, I think you would be best to visit with a mechanice about this. It has been to many years since I worked on that end of the car spectrum, but just from what I recall, I was not a big fan with synthetic oils. They seem to leave a lot of sludge in the oil pan, causing MAJOR problems down the road, but like I said, it has been about 14 years since I worked on that end of it, I really advise you ask a mechanic, who is more up to date than I.
