Used Cars: engine oil, healthy oil, different colors

hi i have an easy question. when looking at used cars i took a look at the dipstick to check the oil. it was kinda brown. what color should it be if the car has healthy oil? thanks

Basically the more see through the better.  Go get a brand new quart of oil and pour it in a clear glass, you will see how see through oil is, despite the different colors it will turn over time.  The color and see-throughedness (if you will) will deterioriate together, it will become darker color as it becomes less see through.
