Trucking: Car Hauling, florida department of transportation, bob stephens
QuestionHi,
I am going to start-up a car hauling business. I got a F350 and I am looking for 3/4 car trailer.
Before I spent any more money on this business(like buying a trailer) I want to know what kind of paperwork needs to be done, what type insurance i have to buy, is DOT number enough or do i need MC#. For now I going to run in state(FL). Is MC# requires min. $750.000 liability insurance, is it correct? Do i have to have cargo insurance and do you know any insurance company i can work with?
Thak you so much for helping us.
AnswerHi Al.
You'll need your DOT/MC #, fuel sticker(s), and base plates. Websites like www.dotauthority.com can get you legal, or call the Florida Department of Transportation for help.
I would run at least $750k if not $1 million in liability. You will need cargo insurance, unless they're your cars. There are a lot of insurance companies that can help you. Try these...
