Trucking: hot shot trucking, hot shotting, missouri dot

Question
I have a 3/4 ton pickup truck gvwr 8800lbs and a 25 ft gooseneck 2 7000 lb axles that i would like to put to work as a hot shot. I am in Misssouri what type of license do I need to use for this? I already have a 26000 lb license and truck and trailer wiegh 12000 lb empty. Are there any websites that have information just for hot shotting? I do thankyou for your time.

Hi, Patrick.  As far as licensing for your truck, I'm not real familiar with smaller hot shots, but a call to the Missouri DOT at 888-ASK-MODOT should clear things up.  Web sites like www.dotauthority.com can help you with everything you'll need if your running interstate.  Finally, www.expeditersonline.com has a lot information that you'll need with a forum where you can talk to other hot shot drivers.  If your new to running a Hot Shot, I would look at running with a company like Jones Motor Group (www.jonesmotor.com) to get your feet wet and learn the business.
