Truck Repair: 2000 5.9 cummins, vp44, auto parts store

truck starts only when eithered or when tach works has new vp44 and lift pump/filter 25 psi at pump when cranking starts and runs great when tach works

Hi Scott,
Sounds like the engine position sensor (crank position) is not working. if this is not working then the ecm has no clue what injector to fire. I think the ecm may get it's engine speed from that sensor as well. not completely sure what the specs and troubleshooting procedure is for this engine but thats a good place to start. either buy a manual from your local auto parts store or google "cummins 5.9 engine position sensor" or something similar. It sounds like it is electronic so specific information is needed.
