Truck Repair: Headlight issue, high beams, highs and lows

I recently purchased an 82 F150, and the headlights stopped working.  I replaced the headlight switch, the beam selector switch which is mounted on the floor, the headlights and connectors for the headlights.  I got only the High beams to come on and when I hit the selector switch the lights go out instead of going to regular beam.  What could be the problem with this.

No fuses blowing?
I would start testing at the beam selector switch with a test light.
You could also unplug the connector from it, and use a jumper between the hot wire, (when the headlight switch is on), and each of the other wires. See if the highs and lows work that way.
