Truck Repair: fuel problem, fuel pressure regulator, fuel flow
QuestionGot 1992 F350 7.5 , I checked the electrical and fuel system, got spark and sprayed starting fluid to throttle opening and it seem to almost start the engine. I suspect that there's no fuel spraying in combution chamber, ( pumps are working when i disconnected it from fuel filter to check for fuel flow ) I will try to switch the relay or get a brand new for EEC and Pump relay . If this engine won't start what should be the problem, is fuel pressure regulator affect the starting problem?
AnswerHi Dan,
Fuel pressure is very important. That is the only thing that pushes the fuel into the cylinders when the injectors open.
I would check the pressure, but also make sure the injectors are pulsing.
Could be just a bad inj fuse.
Also, there is a switch that shuts the fuel pump off if you have hit a big rough bump, but if your pump runs with the filter disconnected, then that switch isn't tripped.
