Truck Repair: Ford No Spark, ballast resistor, switch problem

Hello,  
I went looking for the ballast resistor, but I didn't find anything that resembled that description.  It's night where I live now and I'll go looking again during the day and try to hot wire it.  Is there anything they used to replace it with, or is it fused  now, or did they have yet a better idea?

Also if it doesn't run when it's hot wired what do you recommend.  I'm thinking dynamite.

Hi Jim,
I had an 80, and I don't think it still had a resistor, so I suppose in the EECIV, they did away with it.
Lets see what the hot wire does. You could easily have a switch problem, or a loose wire even.
Surely nothing that would justify destroying it.
