Truck Repair: Hard start, ford 4x4, fuel pump

I have a 1997 ford 4x4 p/u f250 heavy duty with the 460ci. after it sits over night  or for a long period of time the engine will crank but  wont start, on the second try it fires right up! like nothings wrong. When the key is turned on you can hear the fuel pump kick on. I know this might not be your specialty but no one else was listed as close as you.. thanks for your help....

Hi Troy,
It sounds like the fuel is draining back down out of the lines, back into the tank.
Try cycling the key to run, but not cranking it the first time or two, and see if the extra fuel pump time makes it start.
You may have a gasket or o ring letting air into the system during the overnight sit.
