Vintage Cars: Ford, flathead v8, kansas city plant
Question
Firewall ID Plate
My wife and I do a lot of hiking here in Southern Utah. While hiking in a gorge of volcanic rock we came across a rusted car. I checked the engine compartment (no engine or anything else) and found attached to the firewall a fadded ID tag.
We were wondering if you knew what the vehicle was?
The tag read "98BA-*698214*". The asterisk symbols are for what appears to be 'Stars'. I can also read above the word "Branch" the letters KC.
Thank you,
Ron Slane
Answer
Probably a 1949 Ford 98BA Custom Station Wagon. This would have had a flathead V8, with wood trimed door and back panel. Dealer region - Kansas City ( plant)
In restored shape one just brought $95,000!
If you have a full picture of the car I could better ID
Hope that helps
