Vintage Cars: 1967 mercury cougar 289, mercury cougar, bolt pattern

Question
I have bad motor mounts.Purchased new mounts from local autoparts store.The mounts did not fit.I was told I needed mounts off 390 which are not available.Any info would be appreciated.THANK YOU!

not sure why,  the big blocks need different ones than the 289

are you sure they gave you ,ercury and not Ford mounts???

What do you mean by did not fit, size, bolt pattern, engine position?
