AnswerI'm looking at my reference now, and it is possible that the stroke value may be a misprint.
The 1926-1927 Model A six-cylinder engine shows 3.125 x 4.25, the 1928-1929 Model A shows 3.25 x 4.5, and then the 1930-1931 Model S (the improved Model A) shows 3.25 x 4.25. All six cylinder engines from 1930 thru 1941 show a 4.25" stroke, so I would say that your observation is probably correct - my reference has a misprint for the stroke value of the 1928-1929 Model A - it probably should be 4.25". I can't imagine that they would have increased the stroke of the engine for 2 years, and then decreased it again.
