Vintage Cars: 450SL 1979, plyers, installation tool

trunk springs  one has broken  how do i get a new one back in there  i have new ones to put back in  is there a trick to it or just a lot of  you know what  thank you for any help  russ

there is a special  MB installation tool for this purpose, and the manual makes it sound simple but the load is about 200lb. and the quarters are incredibly cramped! I have read where others have done it with plyers and levers but have also read where it has gotten away and made a nasty dent in the metal
