The Nissan Murano now uses an "intelligent key system" for entry. Essentially, there are two methods to unlock the vehicle doors, and both methods require the factory-programmed key fob. You can press a button on the remote or press a switch on the door handle. The vehicle discussed here is a 2010 model, but the process is similar for other Nissan Muranos as well. Consult your year-specific owner's manual for exact procedures for your car.
Stand no farther than about 33 feet away from the Nissan Murano, with the key fob in your hand.
Press "Unlock" (the button that shows an open padlock) on the key fob to unlock the driver's door.
Press "Unlock" again within five seconds to unlock all the doors and the liftgate of the Murano.
Pull the door handle within one minute to open the door.
Ensure that you have the key fob in your pocket or purse, not in your hand. It must be no more than about 2 1/2 feet from the door of the Murano.
Press the door handle request switch once to unlock that door.
Press the request switch again within one minute to unlock all doors.
Pull the door handle within one minute to open the door.
