Before you can drive your new Ford F-250, common sense dictates that you must first find a way into the truck. Back in the old days, you could simply insert a metal key into the lock cylinder. But as of 2009 models, there are two other ways to unlock the door of a Ford F-250: use a remote "key fob" or enter a factory-set, five-digit code into the keyless entry system. Door lock procedures may vary slightly for earlier F-250s, so consult your year-specific owner's manual or auto guide for exact protocols for your truck.
Stand no farther than about 30 feet away from the Ford F-250, holding the key fob in your hands.
Press the "Unlock" button (the one with an icon of an open padlock) on your key fob. The driver's door will automatically unlock and the interior lights will illuminate.
Press "Unlock" once more within three seconds to unlock all the doors of the truck.
Find your personal entry code. This five-digit code was set by the factory. Your dealer should have provided this code; you can also find it on your F-250 owner's wallet card.
Enter the code into the Securicode keypad on the door of your truck. Press each number one at a time, within five seconds of the next. The driver's door will unlock automatically, and the interior lights of the truck will illuminate.
Press the "3-4" button on the keypad within five seconds to unlock all doors of the truck.
