The Ford F-150 is one of the most popular trucks ever sold in America, performing both hauling and towing easily and with style. However, there is a problem with the 2001 Ford F-150 which can cause the transmission to occasionally become stuck in park. Fortunately, there is a relatively easy way to get the truck out of park and into neutral, allowing you to drive the car to a certified repair shop.
Insert the key in the ignition and turn it to the "lock" position. Apply the parking brake and remove the key.
Insert the key again and turn the ignition to the position labeled "off".
Put your foot firmly on the brake and shift the transmission to neutral.
Start the vehicle. Check the brake lights to see if they are working. If the transmission is locked in park it may indicate a problem with the brake lights. If they brake lights are not working it may not be legal to drive the truck on the road, so have it taken to a certified repair facility as soon as possible.
