The MINI Cooper R56 has a gearshift situated in between the two front seats, just behind the central dash. You can remove the knob on the gearshift in a matter of minutes if you need to repair or replace it. As the knob is very bland, many drivers decide to install a more visually pleasing knob to enhance their vehicle's appearance. Replacement knobs can be purchased through your MINI dealership or through online stores.
Place the gearshift in neutral.
Press down on the boot of the gearshift in order to gain better access to it.
Grip the gearshift knob with your dominant hand.
Pull up as hard as you can to remove the knob from the gearshift.
