The factory-installed radio and CD player in a Mazda Tribute is positioned in the middle of the dashboard. You may remove the original equipment and install a CD player of your own choosing. The process is fairly easy and painless. It should take you only about 15 minutes to remove the existing radio and CD player and install a replacement.
Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the trim panel in front of the radio. It is held in by four plastic tabs.
Remove the four screws securing the radio and CD player in place.
Slide the radio toward you and disconnect its wiring harness, located at the rear of the radio. Remove it from the Tribute.
Connect the wiring harness to the new CD player and slide it into the space. Reattach the screws.
Snap the plastic trim panel back into place over the radio.
