The TCC solenoid -- or the torque converter clutch solenoid -- on the 2000 Dodge Neon is also known as the lock-up solenoid. If it malfunctions, the vehicle stalls when you slow down for a stop or a turn because the torque converter stays locked in overdrive. The engine doesn't put out enough torque to move the heavy vehicle at a high gearing at low speeds, lugging the engine and causing it to stall.
Open the hood and look down at the transmission. Locate the TCC solenoid on the top of the transmission.
Unplug the wiring harness connector. Remove the solenoid from the transmission, using the appropriate socket.
Install the new TCC solenoid and tighten the bolt firmly, but do not over-tighten the bolt or you could damage the sensor. Plug in the sensor, ensuring the connector snaps onto the sensor. Close the hood.
