If the hood latch in your vehicle isn't working properly, you may have a hard time opening or closing your hood. If it doesn't stay closed properly, this can be a safety issue and needs to be fixed immediately. The hood latch can be easily replaced with a new latch by using a wrench.
Open the car hood and locate the hood latch, toward the front of the vehicle.
Loosen and remove the nuts on either side of the latch, using a wrench.
Remove the cable and spring from the back of the latch by lifting it up and off of the latch assembly.
Remove the latch completely from the vehicle.
Place the new latch assembly in the empty space.
Attach the nuts to the latch and reattach the cable and spring to the back of the latch assembly. The cable and spring will lock into place.
Tighten the nuts.
