Fel-Pro intake gaskets are manufactured by Federal Mogul, using their Fel-Pro PermaTorque design. The gaskets have (depending on the application) a rubber or fiber facing that covers a steel core, so that the gasket doesn’t allow excess air into the engine--circumventing problems such as stumbling on acceleration and rough idling. Federal Mogul also manufactures the Fel-Pro PermaDryPlus intake gaskets for engines that are harder to seal.
Clean the intake manifold’s gasket-mounting surface on the intake and the engine, using the plastic scraper and rags.
Smear a thin layer of RTV silicone on the intake manifold’s gasket-mounting surface. Fit the Fel-Pro gasket onto the intake manifold. Fit the intake manifold onto the engine.
Install the intake manifold retaining bolts and torque them to your vehicle’s specific torque specifications, and in the order dictated by your vehicle: usually working in an X pattern. You can find the torque specs in a repair manual for your vehicle, or any machine shop can tell you the torque specs.
Reinstall the rest of the parts in reverse order of removal for your application. Start the vehicle and listen for vacuum leaks at the intake manifold gasket. Because Fel-Pro’s design works to circumvent leaks, ensure that no wires or hoses got caught under the intake manifold.
